Eso y Más
What if love made Romeo and Juliet look casual? Joan Sebastian — Mexico's King of the Rodeo — answered that with a declaration so complete, nothing else compares.
About the Song
"Eso y Más" was written by Joan Sebastian (born José Manuel Figueroa, 1951–2015), one of the most prolific and beloved songwriters in Latin music history. Known as "El Rey del Jaripeo" (The King of Mexican Rodeo), Sebastian composed over 1,000 songs for himself and artists including Vicente Fernández, Rocío Dúrcal, Pepe Aguilar, and Lucero. Born in the rural town of Juliantla, Guerrero, he briefly attended seminary before dedicating himself to music, releasing his first album in 1972. He won five Grammy Awards and seven Latin Grammy Awards — the most for any Mexican artist at the time — and was inducted into the Billboard Latin Music Hall of Fame in 2006. The song appeared on his album "Más Allá Del Sol" (2006) and is one of many compositions where Sebastian channeled personal passion into sweeping romantic declarations that defined the ranchera-pop crossover of his era.
Meaning of the Song
"Eso y Más" is a declaration of love so total it makes Romeo and Juliet look understated. The narrator doesn't just promise devotion — he offers to cross mountains, rivers, storms, and even fight dragons ("sin exagerar," he insists — without exaggeration). The central paradox is beautiful: he would willingly pawn his most precious possession — his freedom — to ensure the smile of his beloved's soul. Calling it an "honor" to be her slave reveals the bolero tradition's core philosophy: in true love, surrender is not weakness but the highest form of strength. The final cry of "¡Qué felicidad!" (What happiness!) transforms submission into joy, making this a song about finding liberty through love rather than despite it.
Lyrics / Letra
Que me he enamorado
Que me he enamorado

English Translation
They told me about Romeo and Juliet
And I thought, what a beautiful story
But now it turns out
That what I feel for you
Is greater, more beautiful
I will cross the mountains
The rivers, the valleys
To go and find you
I would brave storms, cyclones, dragons
Without exaggeration
To see myself reflected in your beautiful eyes
And live the glory of being by your side
Because I already feel that I need you
That I have fallen in love
To see myself reflected in your beautiful eyes
And live the glory of being by your side
Because I already feel that I need you
That and more I will do
To assure the smile of your soul
Seeking fairness
I could pawn the most precious thing I have
Which is my freedom
And it would be an honor, oh love, to be your slave
I would be your plaything by my own will
And if one glorious day I end up in your arms
What happiness!
Yes, it would be an honor, oh love, to be your slave
I would be your plaything by my own will
And if one glorious day I end up in your arms
